Services
Dream Scheme

Targeted at the 8-13 year group, this runs once a week at the centre. Young people come along and carry out creative activities. Part of the Dream Scheme’s objective is to promote active citizenship within the local community and the organiser arranges 'community jobs' that the young volunteers carry out, this Dream Scheme - could be washing peoples car, helping with shopping or gardening. Each young volunteer then collects points for the community work that they do and then can spend the points on an activity of their choice such as Adventure Day Out, visiting a Theme Park, going bowling, Cinema etc.

Community Change

A project for young people looking at problems and solutions in their neighbourhood.

They have recently aquired a piece of derelict land off Martindale Avenue on which they plan to develop a sports field, pay picnic areas and a wooded area.

Advice Sessions

We offer advice sessions on a variety of subjects including Disability, Pensions and Housing.

The Citizen's Advice Bureau also runs regular "one to one" surgeries at the Centre offering independent advice and support.

Natterjacks

This is a listening and advice service we provide for young people between the ages of 8-18 whereby they can come and talk about their triumphs and tribulations in a totally confidential environment.

PACT (Police and Community Together)

We work closely with the Police to reduce crime and fear of crime in our neighbourhood. They hold their monthly meetings at the Community Centre to which all residents of the estate are welcome. Look out for posters advertising these meetings in our window.

Eden Park

Opened in 2006, the park is open every day for residents and their children. Our treasurer, Jean ward has obtained all the necessary funding and maintains a relationship with Barton Grange to make sure it remains a safe and welcoming area. Local schools have 'adopted' raised beds which they look after weekly.

Educational/Life Long Learning Courses

We are committed to improving the skills and knowledge of local people as routes to employment, as well as leisure opportunities. We work with the Adult College at Lancaster and other partners to develop basic skills and adult learning such as numeracy and literacy
